There is nothing nicer in my opinion, than one of those dreary grey skied cold winter days. A cold wind blowing with a cold tang to the air, just crisp enough to make your arm hair stand on end!
The best place to be on these days is on your most comfortable chair, with blanket over you, the fire going, a nice hot cup of earl grey tea and a packet of your favourite biscuits to dunk! OH, it makes me feel all tingly inside thinking about it. While you are doing this you could be watching a good movie or you could have that book that you have been wanting to read but haven't been able to as you've needed to do outside chores in your spare time. Opening the book, smelling the paper, rubbing your finger down the binding to crease the cover open, the suspense as you get excited to read it! My favourite books to read are whodunits. I love the thrill of reading a good book where the author has carefully created the story with twists, turns and clues thrown in make for an intense read. A good book is one where I get annoyed at having to let the dog out or the phone going disrupting me and I have to put the book down for a few minutes, missing out on valuable time as I am grappling with the storyline. I’d love to hear what you like to do on cold winter days, and what your favourite genre of book is to read. Feel free to post a comment below! Take care and keep warm Christopher

Exciting times for me!
Most of my illustrations have been created. I am such a pedantic person and want them just right, so my illustrator Samor is busy making final changes for me. In this first book that is introducing the readers (you!) to the character of Comet shows Comet in various scenes and carrying passengers and you get to meet Billie the bus driver! I am wanting to keep the books as diverse as possible in terms of the types of passengers Comet carries and this is quite hard to achieve. But this is book 1! There is plenty of time to show and introduce new characters as the series develops. Below is a sneak preview of one of the illustrations Samor has created for me. Now i need to get back to my other job, making sure all the buses in Palmerston North are leaving on time! Have a great day Christopher Today I took the opportunity to purchase a children’s book, it stood out on the shelf in the bookstore. Before I got into buses, I loved trucks so this book: Titan The Truck by Joy H. Davidson tickled my fancy! It described the day of a truck transporting a range of items it carried from produce to logs. The storyline keeps you interested and the illustrations really bought the story to life. I won’t go into any more details as you should buy the book for your child and enjoy the story and illustrations with them. I imagine it would be fun for a child to read and enjoy. Reading this book reminded me why I started writing my children’s book stories, to provide a fun story with descriptive illustrations that can also teach a simple life lesson in a kind unbeknown way,
My first book in the Comet the Bus series is an introduction to the character of Comet that will do fun and interesting things over the series as well as face various challenges and overcome them. That’s all from me today, back to check of Tupance and get ready for bed! Take care and be kind. It seems surreal that the start of my dream of becoming a published author has finally eventuated. Only weeks now before I hold a copy of my first children's book in my hand.
I have wanted to do this for quite a long time and have had ideas on various books for years. This first book and the series to go with it to me is special and one I am very passionate about. Comet the bus is a series based on a red city bus that travels around the city and occasionally does outings. I can't wait to take you and your child on an adventure with Comet as he explores. Along with the excitement of writing this story and having it published, I am learning how to use social media to help share my journey and promote the book. I will share the social media links on each page of this website o you can easily click and be taken straight there. Be kind and be safe. Christopher |
